  1. Any time you write for a contest, you're writing for the wrong reason. True writing needs to flow from within; it can't be constrained by a theme someone else has dictated. Otherwise, you're just trying to please others. And while it's nice to please others with what you write, you can't force it.

    As for where to go, that's a question only you know the answer to. Nobody is going to tell you; nobody can tell you -- we didn't come up with whatever concept you had in mind when you began writing. You need to own what you write, because what you write is you.
